Beauty out of Neglect (Pictures)
by Bumble Bee inon my travels this morning, i drove past an abandonded farm.
i've driven past here before, and stop there every may/june and pick the sweetest smelling lilacs.
something compelled me today to turn around and go back and do some exploring and take pictures.

Great composition! I suppose you are an Ansel Adams fan? But, then, who isn't?

My kid comes home from the meeting worried about the devil. I'm not happy.
by jambon1 inthis was one of the many reasons that i left the org.
i just could not agree with some of the beliefs & ideas that kids are exposed to at the hall.
having not been raised in the org, i never had any idea what effect it all had on kids.

When my JW said that he saw meetings in my 2-year-old's future and would not discontinue reading the f'd up JW kids bible with my 11-year-old, I threatened divorce. I am fierce when it comes to my kids and no matter how much I may love my husband, I am sworn that there's no way in Hell that my kids will be raised JW. I've seen what it's done to my hubby and his sister (they both were diagnosed bi-polar and hubby was a self-destructive alcoholic).
If I were you, I'd put my foot down. Your kid is too important to have the JW's play their stupid mind tricks on.

Married to a brother or sister (semantics?)
by carla inno offense to the lady who posted and i hope she finds the real truth about the jw's and her husband comes with her at the same time.
now that that is out of the way, is it just me and not having the mentality of a jw but i find it kind of, well, just icky thinking of spouses refering to each other as brother and sister.
i'm sure it is just my worldly thinking here.

No offense either, but who knows carla, maybe it "helps" some of them... Ewwwwwwwww!

Concrete Reasons for Being a JW (or member of any religion)
by Mrs. Witness inhere is a question i've been wanting to ask hubby: "why do you want to be a jw?
" and i don't want ethereal answers like "they have the truth" "everlasting life" and other such nonsensical ramblings.
i am not a member of any organized religion and i don't see the appeal.. can anyone answer the question with a concrete reason?.

Thanks OTWO. I want to take those two reasons away because, in my opinion, they are cop-outs. I think you are right that they want to "belong". I also feel that, in hubby's case, many religiosos need stiff-handed direction.
I want to ask hubby so he will THINK about why he wants to be a JW.

The God/Santa Connection
by Mrs. Witness inwork with me here...this occurred to me last night as i was trying to get back to sleep after waking up with a 2-year-old, so i'm kinda fuzzy.... god supposedly watches everything you do, judges you, then you get the "gift" of ever lasting life.. santa supposedly watches everything you do, judges you, then you get gifts on christmas morning.. sound familiar?.
so, why is it that "god" is real but "santa" is fictional?
hmmm?

Santa supposedly watches everything you do, judges you, then you get gifts on Christmas morning.

So, why is it that "God" is real but "Santa" is fictional? Hmmm? No one has ever seen either one in the flesh, right?
When hubby decides that he needs to tell our 2 year old that Santa isn't real, my answer will be to tell her that "Jehoover" isn't real either.
Thoughts?

Worst WT term ever
by Robert7 inmy vote for the worst watchtower term is:.
circumcision of the heart!.
i can't believe that there are people who can not only say "circumcision of the heart" with a straight face in front of the congregation, but defend its 'meaning'.. other runners up in my opinion:.

Here's one that hubby used that made me want to hit him "Jehovah hates a divorcing".
I also can't stand "arrangement" thrown in where it doesn't belong: "marriage arrangement" being the one I can't stand the most!!
